Our Grass Varieties

What We Install & When
Each One Makes Sense

We carry four grass varieties — each one selected because it performs in Southwest Florida's climate.

Close up of St. Augustine grass blades

St. Augustine

Most Popular

The go-to for Florida homeowners. Thick, dark green blades that create a lush, carpet-like lawn. Handles shade better than any warm-season variety and thrives in our heat and humidity. What we install on the majority of residential projects.

Sun Full to partial shade
Traffic Moderate
Maintenance Moderate
Drought Moderate
Shade High
Mow Height 3.5 – 4 in
Best for: Most residential yards · Shaded properties · HOA communities · Classic Florida lawn look

Close up of Zoysia grass blades

Zoysia

High Traffic

Dense, fine-bladed, and incredibly durable. Bounces back from heavy foot traffic fast and develops a tight root system that crowds out weeds naturally. Slower to establish but once it takes hold, it's one of the toughest grasses in Florida.

Sun Full to light shade
Traffic Heavy
Maintenance Low – moderate
Drought High
Shade Moderate
Mow Height 1.5 – 2.5 in
Best for: Families with kids & pets · High-traffic backyards · Low-weed lawns · Durability + appearance

Close up of Bahia grass blades

Bahia

Low Maintenance

The low-effort option. Drought-tolerant, pest-resistant, and thrives in sandy Florida soil with minimal fertilization or irrigation. Not as thick as St. Augustine but gives you a clean, green yard without constant upkeep. Needs full sun.

Sun Full sun
Traffic Light – moderate
Maintenance Low
Drought Very high
Shade Low
Mow Height 3 – 4 in
Best for: Large lots & acreage · Minimal maintenance · Sandy soil · Rural properties

Close up of Bermuda grass blades

Bermuda

Full Sun

Aggressive, fast-growing, and built for direct sunlight. Recovers from damage faster than anything else — the standard for sports fields and heavy-use commercial sites. Needs more maintenance and zero shade tolerance, but unbeatable in open sun.

Sun Full sun only
Traffic Heavy
Maintenance Moderate – high
Drought High
Shade None
Mow Height 1 – 2 in
Best for: Open sunny yards · Sports fields · Commercial heavy use · Homeowners who mow regularly
